We have a new restaurant in downtown Chester! Hillside Restaurant and Bar is located next to our office at 129 Gadsden Street. Hillside serves brick oven pizza, specialty sandwiches, and salads.
As some of you Chestrians may remember, Russ and Gina White owned Russell and Co. where Hillside is located almost two decades ago. After a hiatus, Russ and Gina have reopened a restaurant in the space that is Hillside! You will even find some of the same items on the menu.
In their revamping of 129 Gadsden Street, Russ and Gina have embraced the architectural art deco design of their building and have themed their decor and menu items to reflect the 1920s style. In addition to their wonderful specialty pizzas, sandwiches, and salads, Hillside also has their own 1920s speakeasy style bar called Zelda’s. On the menu at Zelda’s you can find cocktails inspired by the twenties and decor to match. But that is still not all! Hillside also has their “Hillside Cafe” where you can get specialty coffees and fresh baked pastries and treats! They are serving White Blossom Coffee which is roasted right here in Chester County (Fort Lawn, SC). The cafe also has free WiFi so residents can come and study or work.
Hillside will begin having live music in March and they hope to host a variety of events. Speaking of events, Hillside also has a private event room that can be rented for your party or event. It is complete with a screen and projector making it great for meetings or conferences!
One of our favorite features about Hillside is their commitment to use local goods and support other local businesses.
What a great addition this is to Chester! We are so happy to have them and even happier they are helping revitalize our downtown.
Hillside is open Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 9 pm. The Cafe opens at 7 am, and the bar and restaurant open at 11 am. With new specials weekly you will want to put Hillside on your rotation of restaurants.
